Spencer Willett is the President of the Ashland Volunteer Fire Company, responsible for all aspects of the company and its membership.
Prior to serving as President, Willett served as Vice President and oversaw the company’s bylaws, new member orientation, recruitment, and ways and means. Willett previously served as Member at Large prior to his election as Vice President. Willett joined AVFC in 2021 and was named Firefighter of the Year in 2022 and 2023. He is certified in numerous training courses, is an Emergency Medical Technician, and is a released driver/pump operator for the department.
Outside of the fire company, Willett serves as Government Affairs Manager for the Department of Fire Programs, overseeing the development of agency policy and legislation, VDFP’s strategic plan, regulatory policy, and serving as a liaison to the Virginia Fire Services Board. He received his bachelor’s degree in political science from Randolph-Macon College, is a graduate of the Virginia Fire Officer Academy, and is a graduate of the Emerging Leaders Program at the Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership. Willett is a member of the Virginia Fire Chief’s Association and serves on the Hanover County Volunteer Chief’s Staff.
